By implementing its LE 2030 strategy, Lietuvos Energija, one of the largest energy groups in the Baltic States, is preparing for the transformation in the energy sector, and seeks to attract data analysts, data engineers and data analytic project managers possessing Big Data and artificial intelligence competencies.
Lietuvos Energija signed a cooperation agreement with the programming school for adults Vilnius Coding School.
“One of our strategic decisions is to become the most innovative energy organization. This would be impossible without advanced analytical competencies, so Lietuvos Energija is pleased that Vilnius Coding School has become our partner. We believe that graduates of this school will be an important part of our team in the future”, says Darius Maikštėnas, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Lietuvos Energija.
According to Julia Rimšelė, the founder and CEO of Vilnius Coding School, now is the best time for business and people to invest in their future, because technological progress encourages job automation, which requires new competencies.
“We are delighted that Lietuvos Energija is one of the organizations caring about the future of their employees and Lithuania. We believe that this cooperation will help achieve the goals of the LE 2030 strategy, encourage the development of employee competencies and provide Vilnius Coding School graduates and people who want to change their career and retrain with new opportunities”, says J. Rimšelė.
Jevgenij Abdulayev, Development and Sales Manager at Vilnius Coding School, says that due to a progress in a rapidly changing environment, professional development of employees and attraction of new specialists has become increasingly important: “With a rapid change of technologies and their increasing impact on most business areas, representatives of the majority of professions will soon have to upgrade their knowledge, learn new things or to even retrain altogether. Lifelong learning, increasingly more often retraining and learning new things will be crucial in the nearest future”.
The agreement was signed as a part of the open partnership programme of the Innovation Centre of Lietuvos Energija, which aims to develop energy research together with research institutions and to promote the attraction of the necessary competencies. According to the cooperation agreement, the Vilnius Coding School will provide Lietuvos Energija with curricula vitae of its graduates, and Lietuvos Energija will be able to offer them opportunities of employment or internship.
Moreover, the agreement will allow the existing employees of Lietuvos Energija to improve – expert lecturers at Vilnius Coding School will train employees and assist in developing advanced analytics, robotization, artificial intelligence and other competencies.
“The need for big data and artificial intelligence competencies has been growing in business, thus we believe that this cooperation will give Lietuvos Energija a competitive advantage and will help to ensure a continuous development of competencies of the organization on its way to the implementation of the LE 2030”, says Paulius Šimkūnas, the Head of the Department of Large Data and Artificial Intelligence at Lietuvos Energija.
Bringing together a team of 10 people, who will address challenges of advanced data analytics, is planned in the first quarter of 2019.
