PV Parks Yield Forecasting

In development

Description

Accurate yield simulation is the cornerstone of reducing investment risk and ensuring project bankability. By moving beyond rough estimates to high-fidelity modeling of real-world conditions, such as complex terrain and variable weather, developers can bridge the gap between theoretical design and operational reality. This precision minimizes revenue uncertainty, allows for more aggressive bidding in competitive auctions, and ensures capital is deployed efficiently to maximize the specific yield of every asset.

Problem

Current PV yield estimation workflows often rely on exporting designs into disconnected simulation engines. This  leads to estimations that don’t fully account for terrain undulations, mutual shading, or real-world plant conditions, such as temperature variation and albedo changes.

Solution

A ray-tracing based simulation engine that sits directly within the design environment. Unlike disconnected simulation engines, which simplifies the ground, PVcase Yield simulates the impact of terrain slope and shading on individual strings of panels.

Status and progress

The project officially launched in Early 2026. The team is currently executing the core design and simulation comparison workflows.

  • Start: January 2026
  • Target Completion: End of Q1 2026 / Start of Q2 2026.
