INNOVATION FOR #ENERGYSMART WORLD hackathon is a 2-day challenge, where enthusiasts from different fields (programmers, designers, business developers, energy professionals, etc.) will get together in teams, sharing their ideas and creating real solutions and products to resolve challenges of the new energy! Specially selected professionals in their fields – mentors – will share their insights and experiences during the event.
Challenges to address:
- How to develop electric vehicles charging station network?
Electric vehicles (EV) are becoming more popular each year which rises a need to effectively plan the development of EV charging stations, considering not only capacity factors but socio-economic factors as well (i.e. population density, movement, salary, locations of companies providing services, etc.). Such future infrastructure prediction model would be used by EV charging station operators and network operators to effectively plan EV charging network development. Create your model using existing open data sources to plan the most prominent place for the next charging station!
- How to encourage public buildings to install Photovoltaic solutions?
Potentially, around 200 MW of solar could be installed on the roofs of apartment buildings and the same capacity on the roofs of public buildings. The challenge is to encourage and enable buildings and their owners to install solar power plants and use energy production for their own needs. Offer your most efficient model!
- How could the prosumer loyalty program look like?
Lithuanian prosumer can store access energy that they do not utilize in the grid and return it when needed. Currently, returned energy from the grid is used to cover electricity expenses but what if it would be used for something more? The idea is to create a prosumer loyalty program which would allow prosumers to use the value of surplus energy stored in the grid to cover other expenses that they might experience in their daily life. The solution should consist of the loyalty program concept and the partner list that would receive the transferred benefits of access energy. Create your concept!
- What would be the most attractive electric vehicle charging as a service concept?
Since the number of Electric vehicles (EV) increases, owners need a special home charger service that could contain specific benefits to use the charger instead of a regular socket. Submit your offer!
- How to enable private clients to use Demand Side Response (DSR) services?
In the upcoming years, the Lithuanian energy sector will shift to a free market for DSR services. Therefore, households can adapt their electricity consumption habits and become a part of active energy systems participants. Introduce your smart method for enabling users!
- What Energy as a Service solutions are most relevant to the customer?
New energy and electricity consumption is undergoing a radical change that will require more flexibility for services. The expectations consumers had for electricity are changing – energy from centralized becomes decentralized, consumers from passive become active participants in the energy system. The development of smart energy services (for example – solar power plants, EV charging, system services, etc.) are being introduced in the market. What will energy look like in the future? What solutions/suggestions will be relevant to consumers? Suggest the next step in changing the way we see the energy from a consumer perspective!
- How can energy sector become more appealing to the society and which competencies will be required in the future?
Energy sector has a tough competition with other sector for the engineering students. Transformation in energy field is asking a different set of competencies then before and it is continuously changing.
